Melting in the Midday Sun

Day 2
Another incredible day of intense mileage and a really stinking hot twenty km run in the midday sun which I really don’t think I could have finished without my superstar teammates from Nicole Stevenson’s Angels who are here with me. AZ and Katie let me stop at every outdoor shower we passed. Thank God Kona has a few. But, in addition to my favorite 3k ocean swim with Tara and Anne, we road my second most cherished Kona ride and time trial climb to Capt. Cook. This ride ends with a 15 km descent down the highway on a very little shoulder which, as per my earlier post, I did in my aerobars feeling outstanding. I am sure that part of my feeling so newly comfortable flying downhill has to do with the control and handling of my Trek Speed Concept. It’s a phenomenal bike.

When not training here on the island, we can be found partaking in Eric’s 5 star cooking and sitting at Lava Java…this island certainly encourages my crazy coffee addiction. Speaking of addictions…I might have a peanut butter one and the new GU peanut butter gels are the newest variation on that…they are so good! Thanks for sending them GU!
